St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is located near the beautiful Kettle Moraine State Forest Preserve of southeastern Wisconsin. The 150 acre campus, adjacent to Lake Nagawicka and the small community of Delafield, provides a quiet and safe environment for its students. The structured program at the Academy sets clear expectations, establishes goals, provides rewards, and teaches self-discipline. A young man will find life rigorous and rewarding.

Mission

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy will immerse young men in a culture that promotes personal growth through excellence in academics, leadership, and character.

Academics

(Accredited by ISACS, Members of NAIS, AMSCUS, NCA, and the MWBS)

High School

As a college preparatory school, St. John's Northwestern offers a focused curriculum in the areas of English, mathematics, science, computer applications, social studies, foreign language, and leadership training (JROTC). These required courses are supplemented by a variety of elective courses. Honors courses are offered to challenge those who excel academically. Our graduates are well prepared for the demands of colleges and universities. In fact, for over a decade, 100% of our graduates have been accepted at a college or university.

Junior High

Cadets in seventh and eighth grades receive the same attention and comprehensive instruction as high school cadets in order to prepare them for high school. The curriculum for junior high students includes: English, computer applications, mathematics, science, geography, American history, and electives.

Athletics/Activities

Athletics are an integral part of cadet life. Participation develops initiative, individual ability, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork skills. Our "whole man" philosophy promotes healthy competition. A no-cut policy requires participation in sports.

Leadership Development

The goal of St. John's Northwestern is not to make soldiers out of students, but rather to teach young men the principles of leadership in order to prepare them for life. This preparation is done within a structured environment, which is complimented by the school's academic, athletic, and spiritual programs.

The Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) is designed to motivate young men to become responsible world citizens. The program develops leadership skills, promotes a drug-free environment, strengthens character, emphasizes values, and improves fitness. St. John's Northwestern has been recognized as an "Honor Unit with Distinction" (among the top 20% of the units in the nation) which allows the Academy special nomination privileges for the nation's Service Academies.

Under the military structure, the student body is organized into a Corps of Cadets composed of a Battalion Staff and individual companies all under cadet leadership. The Corps is self-governing under the guidance of the Academy administration. Cadet leaders are responsible for much of daily life. Every cadet has an opportunity to obtain a leadership position based on his proven accomplishments and leadership potential.

Values

Moral and ethical values play an important role in the lives of our cadets. The Academy encourages spiritual growth and respects the religious beliefs of the individual.

Religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity is ingrained in the daily lives of the cadets at St. John's Northwestern. Cadets come from an average of ten different countries representing as many as five major world religions.

The Academy's Chaplain offers regular chapel services. Attendance and participation is a required part of a cadet's learning experience within the St. John's Northwestern community.
