How would you like to spend a year or more in sunny central Florida, on a campus with a fitness center, two gymnasiums and an outdoor swimming pool?

Montverde Academy offers a highly-rated boarding program for grades 7-12. This international preparatory school offers a wide range of academic support services to students who are university bound. We have an academically challenging curriculum, as well as outstanding enrichment opportunities through elective classes. In addition, students are exposed to many options in the performing and fine arts, music, sports and other extra-curricular activities.

Just 40 minutes from Orlando and its international airport, our beautiful campus stretches 125 acres across the rolling green hills within the small village of Montverde, population 1,500. We are nearby to several extraordinary recreational resources. Attractions such as Kennedy Space Center, Orlando Science Center, Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and many, many more are easily accessible for student trips. Students represent a broad cross-section of the world with over 40 different nationalities represented in the boarding population.

The architecture of the Academy is reminiscent of Spanish construction with white-washed facades and red tiled roofs. All of our buildings are equipped with air-conditioning. A recently completed three-story girls' dormitory, Koivu-Patterson Hall, is home to 60 young women and 3 sets of dormitory parents. The boys' dormitories, Arnold Hall, built in 2002, and Carpenter Hall, renovated in 2005, are home to over 80 boys and their dormitory parents. Everyone has one roommate and great care is given in assigning students to each room, giving regard to age, nationality and interests.

To support our nearly 600-student body (including a day program for younger students), we have a chapel, Science building, a 200-seat dining facility, internet-accessible classrooms, dormitories, library and infirmary. In addition, there is a 500-seat Performing Arts Center, a photography studio equipped with darkrooms, and a chorus room. In addition, we offer 16 sports; both our basketball and baseball programs are consistently ranked nationally and many young athletes continue in competition at university.

With an average class numbering fewer than 15, we provide 12 Advanced Placement Courses. Montverde students are more than adequately prepared for college/university work throughout the United States and elsewhere.

For the international student whose English skills need improvement, we provide several levels of English as a Second Language courses.

Founded in 1912 on the three principles of Knowledge, Character and Community, the Academy strives to develop responsible young adults who are academically proficient and of sound moral character and who are contributing and involved in their community.

Montverde Academy places great emphasis on the development of integrity, honesty and trust. Students are expected to demonstrate model behavior described in our school Honor Code. Character development is emphasized in every part of the program with additional attention being offered during a required half hour Chapel service on Sundays and a required course in ethics for all students. Chapel Services are non-denominational with the express purpose of building a community of respectful adults who have a well-developed sense of personal values.

Community Service activities are also an integral part of life at Montverde Academy. Students participate in periodic earth day activities, community service projects such as hospital and nursing home visits, community clean-up projects, volunteering time at animal shelters and working on an annual toy drive.

Under the nurturing care of a truly dedicated faculty students are guided, mentored, coached, tutored and supervised through a myriad of educational experiences. Because most of our teachers live on campus, they are easily accessible to students both boarding and day. Faculty form strong bonds with students while helping them navigate through the challenges experienced during their teenage years.
