Winter Intensive Program

ACBT’s Winter Intensive program is a fully certified high school academic program for the student who wants to be competitive in the world of ballet. Students have the opportunity to complete their high school academics at an accelerated rate. Phyllis Papa, director of both the Academy and the academic school, is on faculty at the Richard Stockton College of NJ. Along with academics, students receive daily ballet, pointe & mens class and have available unlimited evening classes in many forms of dance.

Summer Performing Arts Camp

For the 25th year, the Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre, the official school of Atlantic City Ballet, is offering an 8 week intensive summer dance camp. The camp is open to boarding & day students that are serious about the study of dance.

ACBT enjoys a reputation as a leader in professional ballet training and the camp offers a complete curriculum for future professional dancers. Students enjoy at least 6 hours of class each day; ballet, pointe, adagio, pirouette class, character, ethnic, men’s class, jazz, hip hop, choreography workshops, theater & pool barre. ACBT offers college credit from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey to those students who qualify.

Atlantic City Ballet’s professional company is in residence so campers see the professional company in class & are partnered in pas de deux class with a professional dancer. Students perform weekly at Kennedy Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ.

The facility is nestled in a wooded setting on over seven acres with an Olympic size swimming pool. On weekends campers visit the beach, boardwalk & Historic Smithville. Bus trips to New York City to see American Ballet Theatre and Broadway shows are planned as well.

For boarding students, dormitory space is provided with 24 hour supervision.

Artistic Director

Phyllis Papa, Artistic Director of the ACBT Performing Arts Academy & Atlantic City Ballet, toured extensively throughout the world as a member of American Ballet Theatre, Stars of American Ballet & the Royal Danish Ballet. In 1998 Miss Papa received the Brazilian Gold Medal of Honor. She has choreographed over thirty ballets for Atlantic City Ballet including, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Vision From Around the World, Visions II. & Dracula, Her work is hailed by critics as “Sumptuous, exciting, impressive...bravo”. Miss Papa has been justly acclaimed “One of the finest dancers and teachers on the American scene today.”

Atlantic City Ballet

Atlantic City Ballet, the only professional ballet company in South Jersey, is in residence at ACBT & consists of fourteen full-time professional dancers and a corps de ballet. The ballet company includes dancers from South America, Romania, Australia and Canada, as well as the United States. The company performs at the Richard Stockton College of NJ, Kennedy Plaza in Atlantic City, tours universities and performs educational outreach programs for young school children. The 2007-2008 schedule includes, Dracula, The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Coppelia, & Visions. For additional information visit our web site.
